HOW TO GET THE AEGEAN COAST VILLA

From the UK

Bodrum and Izmir are served by 22 UK airports. Bodrum Airport is only open as an international airport during the high season (1st May - 31st October).

In the winter you can fly to Izmir Adan Menderes Airport (open all year round), though these flights fly from London (with some flights from Manchester) airports only. Flight time is 4 hours and Turkey is two hours ahead of the UK.

British Airways now fly direct from Gatwick to Izmir four times a week at an approximate cost of £220 return, with a transfer time of around 90 minutes. Alternatively you can book with one of the tour companies that fly into Bodrum, which is about 60 minutes transfer time.

ABOUT AKBUK

Escape to a unique spot of Turkish Paradise on the Aegean Coast Akbuk Bay is cradled by mountains with protected forests and olive trees rolling down to a vast crystal bay with many sandy coves to explore. Due to the calm waters around Akbuk, the bays in the area are very safe for all the family to enjoy.

Turkish Fishing BoatAkbuk Town

Akbuk, originally a small fishing village which nestles below lush pine forests and mountains, is very much an undiscovered gem. It is situated at the far end of Akbuk Bay along the Aegean coast between the well known resorts of Bodrum and Kusadasi. Akbuk has the lowest humidity and the highest oxygen ratio in Turkey providing a thoroughly healthy and therapeutic environment.

Our villa which has spectacular views of Akbuk Bay is only 100 metres from the harbour where you can take a host of boat trips to golden sand beaches and coves with plenty of snorkelling opportunities. Alternatively, catch one of the frequent ferries to nearby Altinkum from where you can take your pick from a comprehensive selection of daytrips to resorts such as Bodrum, or slightly further afield to Kusadasi or wherever you fancy.

Fish in Turkey ImageAkbuk has a fishmarket at the quayside where you can buy your catch of the day (sea bass, sea bream, sword fish etc) from the local fishermen. However, if you happen to be an early bird, it is most satisfying and enjoyable to await the fishermen’s return to the jetty and buy your fish direct. Every Friday, Akbuk has a large market which is only a five minute walk from the villa. There are plenty of small shops in the town such as mini markets, fresh fruit and vegetable stalls, butchers, hairdressers, internet café and there is one night club called ‘Jokers’.

Akbuk Beach ImageFor those lazy days, the centre of Akbuk offers a number of bars, beach front cafes and restaurants to just sit, relax and chill out in a wonderful climate, agreeably hot and sunny with a gentle breeze – the perfect place to escape the rigours of life back home. (in tranquil surroundings?)

Akbuk, whilst understated, has a subtle buzz about it with a wonderful laid back atmosphere. If you want to truly relax yet have all amenities close to hand then Akbuk is the right choice for you. This delightful little town manages to retain the ‘ Turkish welcome’, that is, one of warmth, friendliness and traditional hospitality. Furthermore, Akbuk has not in any way been spoilt by commercialism.
